College Park began as a citrus-era community founded by grower John Ericsson, who built its first home at 19 West Princeton, and it grew quickly once the South Florida Railroad arrived in 1880. The 1920s real estate boom added the Rosemere, Dubsdread, and Edgewater Heights subdivisions, and the neighborhood’s later residents have included astronaut John Young and writer Jack Kerouac. Sitting north of Downtown Orlando along Edgewater Drive and bordering Lake Silver, it pairs an intact historic streetscape with a walkable corridor of independent shops and restaurants.

Edgewater Drive Complete Street Project

A $5.2 million City of Orlando reconstruction, funded through the FDOT Local Agency Program and city impact fees, will widen ADA-compliant sidewalks to 9–12 feet, add a roundabout at Edgewater Drive and Lakeview Avenue, standardize the speed limit at 25 mph, and upgrade landscaping and lighting. City Council approved the project in May 2026, with construction beginning in November 2026 and completion expected in September 2027.
